What is the Alexander Technique?
The Alexander Technique (AT) is a re-education of the body, taught through skillful, hands-on guidance to restore your natural balance and coordination. It offers you the tools to move and breathe in a freer, and more meaningful way.
The Alexander Technique is a practice of pausing, presencing, and listening. Over time, incorporating the practice into your life raises awareness of the mind-body connection, thereby offering you agency, spaciousness, and buoyancy within.
What is Qi Gong?
Qi Gong is an ancient internal energy practice and branch of Chinese Medicine that prevents and treats disease. It offers simple movements, guided imagery, and breath control to bring about a calmer nervous system and focused mind.
Who is the Alexander Technique and Qi Gong for?
The Alexander Technique and Qi Gong are for the curious person who desires to move with more ease. AT and QG especially attract:
-People who are experiencing physical pain in their back, neck, and bodies.
People who are seeking nervous system regulation and stress management.
Actors, musicians, dancers, wellness practitioners that desire to improve movement patterning.
Pregnant and postpartum women that are experiencing rapid, and often uncomfortable, changes in their bodies.
Seniors and people with neurological diseases, including Parkinson’s Disease that are facing challenges in their balance and coordination.
Everyone can benefit from taking lessons. I invite people from all backgrounds and orientations to work with me.
What does a lesson look like?
During an Alexander Technique lesson, I offer skillful, hands-on guidance through simple, every day movements like sitting, standing, bending, lying down, and walking. You can learn how to tune in and listen to your body through these movements, and to mindfully offer more ease and support to your body and mind.
I offer Qi Gong as optional opener to an AT lesson where I guide you through simple movements, imagery, and breathwork. This offers nervous system safety, regulation and support as we orient ourselves to the space and create a safe and supportive container to learn and grow in.
Through the Alexander Technique, and Qi Gong alike, I offer you knowledge and tools that you can incorporate into your life and home practice. This offers you lasting agency and the skill to return to your body and the practice at any time.
